Deb, her husband, and various
furry and feathered friends have made a recent move across the
country from New England to the beautiful Land Of Enchantment,
sunny New Mexico. There is so much to see and to paint! Now that
boxes are (finally!) unpacked, Deb is busy in the studio and
hiking around with her new Soltek easel, capturing the landscape
en plein air...
Deb is a
professional artist working both in the
studio and en plein air, she works, with rare exception, “from
life”. Deb’s works, particularly her still life paintings, are
recognized for their “chiaroscuro” style of dramatic light and
dark.
Deb’s primary
focus in painting is this light, no matter what the subject
matter. Every painting is a new opportunity to see and paint
with increased understanding and sensitivity to the nuances of
light - how it flows over objects and how it changes our
perception of them. It is a journey filled with both challenges
and great joy.
Her work is
found in private collections both here in the region and across
the country. She exhibits locally as well as in national shows,
has had both group and solo exhibits, and a painting even found
its way onto the cover of a children’s school textbook! While
the term “award-winning artist” seems to be over used these
days, Deb has been given recognition in several venues.
