        Edward Gordon

Edward Gordon was born in Ocean City, New Jersey in 1940 and received a BA from Rutgers University. Gordon's solitude evokes all of one's senses: the smell and sounds of the ocean, the touch of objects, with doors and windows opening to never-ending opportunities.

Edward Gordon's paintings are technically correct, almost photographic, in the surrealistic quality of sunlight coming through the window.  The attention to detail is a hallmark of his work as he has received many awards and honors, as well as, the adoration of many a knowledgeable collector.  Edward works from a detailed pencil drawing and uses organic alkyd paints, layer upon layer, to develop a transformation from light to dark that gives a "glazing" quality to his painting.

Edward Gordon says of his work, "I relish the subtleties of light reflection combined with architectural details that falls somewhere between realism and surrealism".

His ORIGINAL paintings are highly prized and are relatively few in number as he is able to paint only one or two a year.

Edward Gordon now lives in Vermont having moved east from Mendocino, California.
